Here is a guide to what to expect before, during, and after your appointment:
Your health care provider makes are referral to our clinic after deciding with you that you prefer non-surgical management of your joint or soft-tissue problem.
We will review the referral and contact you for an appointment time. Sometimes an x-ray is required prior to your consultation and we’ll arrange that for you with your permission at the time of this phone call.
We will send you an online form for you to describe your problem and past history ahead of time. Also, information will be sent for you to learn more about therapies available.
OHIP does not cover the cost of medications. Check with your insurance company ahead of time about your coverage. If indicated, a prescription will be written at the appointment for the medication you require. Medications are available for purchase at the clinic without a dispensing fee for your convenience.
On the day of the appointment, please wear comfortable loose clothing that allows easy access to the affected area, including above and below that area. You can bring clothes to change here if required. You will check in with our front desk and present your health card.
During your appointment, the doctor will ask you questions and perform a physical examination. He may use an ultrasound to help plan the injection. Sometimes, the injection can be done right after your consultation, but often a second appointment is made for the injection.
If you receive an injection, you will be sent home with after-care instructions. Expect to be asked to rest the area for 3-7 days after the injection. If you have any concerns or questions after your injection, you may call us.
We will send you another online survey about your symptoms four weeks after your visit to check how you are doing.
